Neuroblastoma is cancer that develops from immature nerve cells in different parts of the body. Neuroblastomas are more common in and around the adrenal glands, which have a similar origin to nerve cells and settle in the kidneys. Neuroblastoma is a special type of cancer that affects certain types of nerve tissues. Generally, it starts from the adrenal gland and then grows to affect neck, chest, abdomen, and spine. Painless bluish lump under the skin or in the abdomen, neck or chest with bone pain indicates the presence of cancer. This cancer transferred from the mutated genes of the parents to the newborn. Neuroblastomas most commonly affects children aged 5 and under, although they are rare in older children. Some forms of neuroblastoma disappear on their own, while others may require multiple treatments. The treatment options for your child's neuroblastoma depend on several factors. During pregnancy, it can be diagnosed through an ultrasound. Treatment methods may be surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy or stem cell transplant.
