Baby 7.5 months old born prematurely now 6 months corrected is on formula feed kendamil follow on stage 2. Has also started some solids. He was slowly transitioned from enfamil AR to kendamil in over 10 days , he has had hard stools ever since he was started on enfamil AR but the last 3 times he strained alot while passing stool had difficulty passing it and a little bit bleeding occurred. Ever since his transition to new formula occurred he has not passed stool. It has been 4 days and also facing gas problems . He does strain as if trying to pass stool but is unable to. Small amounts of water have been given and some purrees of fibre rich fruits

No need to worry,,, bowel habits gets disturbed when switching from one formula to other and bleeding can be due to irritation mucosa due to straining. Dont give water, add fibers in diet and also start giving syp prulax jnr or EZCOL

Yes I actually saw the bleeding occurred due to straining as i was holding his legs at that moment.

make sure you are diluting appropriate amount of powder with water. you can give some water as well. use glycerine suppositories to relieve constipation, give lactulose or prune juice.

For immediate Relef is to Put Paedetric Glycerin suppository upholding both legs.It is safest treatment.
Because baby was born preterm and has Constipation problem from begging Medical Causes should be Ruled out
eg. Hypothyroidism etc.
