I am seeking professional advice regarding my 2-month-old infant who is experiencing recurrent constipation. He initially went 4 days without a bowel movement and only passed stool after we administered 5 drops of Skilax (Sodium Picosulfate), as prescribed by our first doctor. This pattern repeated, requiring another dose of Skilax after a subsequent 5-day gap.
It has now been 5 days since his last movement. We consulted a second doctor who prescribed 1.5cc of 'Laxi Plus' syrup (Prunus avium 125mg, Cassia angustifolia 12mg). However, I am hesitant as my research suggests this contains Senna, which may be strong for an infant. Alternatively, a colleague recommended Duphalac (Lactulose) 1.5cc. Given the age of the child, which pharmacological approach is considered safer and more appropriate: the prescribed stimulant (Laxi Plus) or the osmotic laxative (Duphalac)? or any other better alternative

2-month baby mein stool ka 4–5 din tak na aana aksar normal hota hai, khas taur par agar breastfed ho. Har 4–5 din baad Skilax ya Laxi Plus dena theek nahi—itni choti age mein stimulant laxatives (senna, sodium picosulfate) avoid kiye jate hain.
Is age ke liye sabse safe option Lactulose (Duphalac) hota hai, kyun ke yeh osmotic laxative hai aur intestines ko irritate nahi karta.
? Duphalac 1.5 ml once daily 3–5 days ke liye diya ja sakta hai (doctor ke advise ke sath).
? Agar baby bilkul feed thik le raha hai, tummy soft hai aur vomiting/fever nahi, to yeh emergency nahi.
Agar 5–6 din se stool nahi + baby uncomfortable hai, to gentle rectal stimulation (glycerin suppository – infant) kabhi kabhar use hoti hai.
Agar phir bhi problem repeat ho rahi ho, to usko once proper pediatric evaluation ki zaroorat hogi.
? For safe dose adjustment and personalized plan, video consultation Dr. Fizza Noor se book kar sakte hain.
