Asking for Other, Male, 3 years old, Rawalpindi
My 3 year old daughter has started limp walking. It's becoming more noticeable and concerning. I do massage her legs and give her vitamin D supplements. She also has RLS which I think is affecting her walking pattern.
She's also a premature born child. Plz help and guide.
Limping is not normal, please get her physically checked by a paediatrician ASAP
This new-onset limping requires careful evaluation. What do you mean by RLS? Possible causes include muscle weakness, vitamin D deficiency, flat feet, joint issues, or a mild neurological condition complicated by recent viral infections. A detailed history is required. Since prematurity can sometimes lead to delayed motor development, muscle tone abnormalities, or coordination issues, it’s important to observe if the limping worsens, is painful, or affects daily activities.
Continue vitamin D supplementation and ensure a balanced diet rich in iron and calcium. Gentle leg stretches and physiotherapy exercises may help strengthen muscles. If this continue to get worse, a appointment with peds neurology and/or orthopedic will be crucial. First off, need to discuss this with pediatrician and get your child evaluated. Dr. Raza
