Sometimes a red rash is more than an annoying cause skin problem. This can be a sign of illness, including a blood cancer with a big name, mycosis fungoides. This disease also called Alibert-Bazin syndrome. This happens when white blood cells, called T cells, go out of control and leave the blood on the skin. This causes the rash that can cause itching. When cancerous T cells are in the blood and skin, it is called Sezary syndrome. It is unclear whether Sezary's syndrome is an advanced form of fungal or other infection. Doctors do not know what causes mycosis fungoides. This could be related to a virus, exposure to a chemical or its genes. It can happen at any age, but most people get it in the 50s or 60s. Men suffer twice than women.
