The Wilms tumor is a rare kidney cancer that mainly affects children. Also known as nephroblastoma, it is the most common kidney cancer in children. The Wilms' tumor most commonly affects children aged 3 to 4 years and becomes much rarer after 5 years. The Wilms' tumor most commonly occurs in one kidney, although it can sometimes be simultaneous in both kidneys. Over the years, advances in the diagnosis and treatment of Wilms' tumor have significantly improved the prognosis of children with this disease.
