Summary about Hypohidrosis in English

Hypohidrosis is a condition in which a person sweats less than they should. Sweating aids body cooling, and insufficient sweating can result in heat-related illnesses like heat exhaustion.

Hypohidrosis is a milder form of anhidrosis, in which a person is unable to sweat at all. Hyperhidrosis, on the other hand, is a condition that causes excessive sweating.

The Urdu meaning of Hypohidrosis is "Kasrat paseena".

Symptoms of Hypohidrosis

The symptoms of Hypohidrosis include:

  • minimal sweating even when others are sweating heavily
  • muscle cramps or weakness
  • dizziness
  • feeling overly hot
  • High fevers
  • Nausea

Causes of Hypohidrosis

Causes of Hypohidrosis include:

  • You might develop hypohidrosis if you were born with a metabolic disorder, nervous system disorder, nerve condition, or other genetic condition.
  • Your sweat glands may become damaged and unable to produce sweat due to skin injuries such as burns, radiation therapy, or extremely clogged pores.‌
  • Certain connective tissue diseases can cause atrophy of your sweat glands, which means they stop working after not being used.
  • Many medications, such as morphine and botox, affect how your sweat glands work.
  • Severe dehydration can also cause hypohidrosis.

Treatment

  • Hypohidrosis that only affects a small part of your body is unlikely to cause problems and may not even require treatment. Your doctor will treat any underlying medical conditions that are causing hypohidrosis. This may aid in the alleviation of your symptoms.
  • If a medication is causing your hypohidrosis, your doctor may suggest switching to a different one or lowering your dosage. Adjusting medications may help to improve sweating, though this isn't always possible.

Preventive Measures of Hypohidrosis

Although hypohidrosis cannot be prevented, it is possible to reduce your risk of getting severe illnesses related to overheating.

  • Wear loose and light-colored clothes, and do not overdress when it is hot.
  • Stay inside and avoid overexerting yourself in the heat.
