The avulsion fracture is an injury to the portion of the skeletal system (bone) where any tendon or ligament attaches to the bone and leads to the pulling off a piece of the specified bone.

Surgery is the ultimate treatment option in this case but it may not be needed if the avulsion fracture is well aligned, or if the patient is near enough to growth plate closure that this injury is not considered to cause long-lasting problems in growth.
