Legg-Calve-Perthes disease is a childhood disease that occurs when the blood circulation in the spherical part (femoral head) of the hip joint is temporarily interrupted and the bone begins to die. This weakened bone gradually collapses and may lose its rounded shape. The body eventually restores the ball's blood supply and heals. If the ball is not round after healing, it can cause pain and stiffness. The entire process of bone death, fracture and renewal can take several years. To make the spherical part of the joint as round as possible, doctors can use multiple treatments that fix the joint in the female part of the joint. The cavity acts as a mold for the fragment of the femur fragmented during its healing.
