    Causes of Prolonged Periods

According to scientific evidence, the periods can be prolonged due to:

    • Hormone Imbalance
    • Dysfunction of the ovaries
    • Uterine fibroids
    • Polyps
    • Adenomyosis
    • Intrauterine device (IUD)
    • Pregnancy complications
    • Cancer

Attention: According to vocal researchers, a woman’s voice may change slightly during the menstrual cycle due to reproductive hormones that affect the vocal cords. This means that women may sound different during menstruation and may be “less attractive” depending on the test participants conducted in the study.

6 Home Remedies to Stop Periods Immediately

There are many unnatural and unhealthy ways to stop periods overnight that have other side effects. They’re more efficient to stop periods but more harmful. Sometimes bleeding doesn’t stop due to prolonged periods that’s why it is necessary to treat it in more natural and healthier ways. Therefore, we’ve listed 6 home remedies to stop menstrual bleeding after 7 days.

    Vitamin C:

Vitamin C can play a huge role in reducing heavy periods naturally. According to a study, “ Vitamin C helps the body absorb iron actively. You can ask your gynecologist to recommend a vitamin C supplement, but only if you are not taking vitamin C in your daily diet.

You can add many foods to your diet to increase your vitamin C intake. They are:

    • Guava
    • Oranges
    • Papaya
    • Strawberries
    • Bell pepper
    • Broccoli
    • Kale

    Eat Tamarind:

Tamarind may help regulate blood circulation. Hence, it is an effective home remedy for hyper-flow. Tamarind is also rich in antioxidants that can help reduce high cholesterol levels and heavy bleeding.

A mixture of honey, tamarind, and water can be used as a natural remedy. Put the ingredients in a blender and drink once a day.

Did You Know: According to research, “Menstrual suppression is a treatment that uses drugs to shorten or stop menstruation.” It is a safe choice for all girls, teens, and young women who have already menstruated at least once but this treatment should be done under the supervision of a doctor.

Studies over the years have shown that menstrual suppression is safe. “Gynecologists can reassure patients that hormone therapy used to suppress menstruation will not affect future fertility and will not increase the risk of cancer.”

Let’s get back to home remedies…

    Add Ginger to your Diet:

One of the home remedies to stop long-term periods is to consume ginger. One study found that ginger could “dramatically reduce” menstrual bleeding levels.

Researchers investigated the effects of ginger capsules on high school girls who experienced severe menstrual bleeding. There were 92 participants, and the investigator divided them into two groups. One received a placebo capsule, and the other received a ginger treatment.

The results showed that the decrease in blood flow experienced by the group taking ginger was significantly more pronounced than in the group receiving a placebo. They also reported that a “minimum number” of subjects noted the occurrence of adverse events.

    Keep Yourself Hydrated

In addition to all herbal interventions, you can try these simple tips. Increasing your fluid intake may help reduce the amount of blood lost. Drinking plenty of water will help to shorten your period. This is because the water keeps the blood from thickening.

Attention: Many health experts recommend increasing your water intake during menstruation. If you are hydrated enough, there will be less cramping of the abdominal muscles and uterus. Water also thins the mucus so it can easily pass through the body.

    Mustard Seeds

Mustard seeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which help regulate estrogen levels. This is a great home remedy for hormonal imbalances. Ultimately, it helps regulate your menstrual flow. You can add mustard seed powder to your diet.

A Quick Tip: Placing an ice pack on your stomach for about 20 minutes several times a day can help regulate blood flow and manage long-term problems.

    Lemon Juice

Lemon juice, like apple cider vinegar, is a highly acidic food. Lemon juice to delay period is one of the oldest and most widely used remedies to delay periods.

Lemon juice is a natural product with no adverse health effects. Drink lemon juice in moderation to avoid nausea, vomiting, and other gastroesophageal reflux.

However, there is no medical evidence that it can actually delay your menstrual date. It’s unclear why anecdotal studies and reports suggest this citrus fruit may help control bleeding. There is also no evidence or research to support this.

Caution: Consuming too much acidic food can also irritate your teeth, gums, mouth, throat, stomach, and intestines. If you try this technique, you should only add 2-3 tablespoons of lemon juice with water to a cup of water or drink it as a sugar-free tea.

    Who shouldn’t stop periods?

Girls under 15 should not stop menstruating as it is important to observe cycle characteristics such as cycle length, blood volume, and relevant symptoms in the first year of menstruation.

Observing the duration and symptoms of the female cycle helps to assess and evaluate any problems with the reproductive system.

    Wrap Up

If you have been menstruating for a long time, seeing a gynecologist in Pakistan is best. You can try these home remedies to stop prolonged periods, but finding the underlying cause is important. Once you identify the root problem, you can troubleshoot and fix it.

    FAQs:

Can we stop periods for one day?

A progesterone pill may stop a person’s period for a one-off event. A person should know that taking a progesterone pill may not work for them, but it is an alternative to long-term birth control. Intrauterine devices (IUDs), such as the Mirena, may also reduce or prevent periods in some people.

How many days can the period stop?

Your period can last between 3 and 8 days, but it usually lasts about 5 days. The bleeding tends to be heaviest in the first 2 days. When your period is at its heaviest, the blood will be red. On lighter days, it may be pink, brown, or black.
