Restorative Dentistry or Operative Dentistry is the name of the Speciality of Dentistry discipline that deals with the restoration of cavitited diseased tooth structure.
If pulp is not involved then simple restoration(Filling) with suitable dental material can be restored, do not require root canal(RCT)
If pulp chamber is involve then RCT is needed and then restoration.
If a cavitited tooth is not restored it will cause other sound teeth to decay as it will provide as a hub for tooth decay causing germs(tooth decay causing microrganisms)
