I had deliverd a baby 2 months ago . Bt i didnt get my periods yet may b due to breast feeding. Question is can i start contraceptive pills without having periods?? If yes then how? Plz guide me what should i do for protection.. thnks
Thanks yes it is true that with breastfeeding periods don’t come in some patients if you contraception rule out pregnancy by bhcg nd if no pregnancy then you can use mocrogyn (progesterone containing pills)after having withdrawal bleeding with primolut nd then start pills as recommended
U can start OCPs while u r breast feeding but they should be progesterone only pills (POP)
If u haven’t had intercourse then u can start ur pills from today only and if u had intercourse after delivery then first get ur pregnacy test done and start tab right away
U continue taking pills for 21 days and then wait for ur periods .when u get ur periods then start the pills from 5 th day of periods . U can continue the pills till u want contraception.
The other way is to take these pills in packs of three that is take pills continuously for three months and then leave and wait for ur periods and against start from 5 th day of periods
I hope u get me
Take care
- welcome and thanks for preffering Marham for your health Consultation.
-U can have progesterone only pills for contraceptives .
- first check your pregnancy status and then discuss regarding contraceptives till the use Condoms .
- breast feeding can delay or irregulate Periods .
- if doing exclusive breast feeding can avoid hormonal Contraceptives for few months as baby very young to digest hormones as some amount can be transfered via Breast milk .
- best of luck
