Talk to Gynecologist on Delay In Periods

person-avatar

Asking for Self, Female, 24 years old, Karachi

I delievered my baby on 12th Jan via normal birth and I had post partum discharge for around 38 days. I have already done a postpartum visit to my gynea and she said that everything's ok.During that time,it kept on becoming lighter, from red to brown (sometimes pink) to yellow and white. But on approximately 22 Feb, I had a bloody discharge which lasted for around 5 days. Could that have been my period? Or is it something to be concerned about? Also,It has been 24th of March and I have not had my period yet. I have breastfed my baby up till the starting of March, and after that, she is on formula feed . Could that have something to do with it? How long would it take for my periods to start or return to normal? I am unable to contact my gynea or go to a doctor at this time due to certain reasons,so any advice would be appreciated.

Wait for 1-2 weeks and if no periods then consult your doctor. Not advisable to have medicines without proper evaluation.

- wellcome and thanks for preffering marham for your health Consultation.
- During breast Feeding periods could be irregular even no periods due to hormonal effect .
- As u got bleeding unscheduled then it's better to Evaluate it to be on safer side .But as per your description u quit feeding then things should be getting Normal slowly and gradually .
-if have history of unprotected sex then have Serum beta hcg ,( blood Pregnancy test) to check Pregnancy status .
- if beta hcg positive then have folic acid ,Transvaginal scan and Detailed evaluation by Gynae Specialist for Emergency intervention.

- if beta hcg comes negative better to have hormonal Contraceptive better combined oral Contraceptive pills Cyclically for 3 cycles .
- have balanced diet ,weight and Bmi .
- follow after 4 montgs if symmotoms persist .
- best of Luck.
