Asking for Self, Female, 27 years old, Lahore
I am 37 weeks pregnant with my 1st baby.. i did my GTT at 31 weeks. Due to strong family hx. It was all right... Yesterday i had inj dexa as per advise.. at night (8 hours after dexa) i checked my bsr it was 199. (1 hour post meal) n then i check fasting sugar. It was 110..
I want to ask if its late onset of GDM or its just due to dexa inj.. should i go for GTT again or just monitoring will b enough..
Dexa/steriods can cause increased blood sugar levels, therefore monitor your blood sugar levels for couple of days, and if they remain high then see your gynecologist for advice.
It was a transitional rise after dexa cover , do check it after about 48 hrs , if it’s normal , do not worry
Wellcome and thanks for preffering Marham for your health consultation.
- Dear Dexamethasone can increase blood Suger levels so it's better to check fetal movements regularly and blood Suger levels as well.hope gradually it's will reduces gradually as soon as injections effect reduces .
If fetal movements less report to your obstetrician .
- best of luck.
injection dexa can increase the bsl levels .but important is to have your 3 or four levels checked as you already have a strong family history of diabetes
