Asking for Self, Female, 30 years old, Slovenia

Hello.

I have a question about usage of menstrual cup and pregnancy.

I used menstrual cup when I was 2 months pregnant during swimming in a pool (approx 2 hours). When I took it out I felt vacuum. After a few hours I had very slight vaginal bleeding mixed with vaginal discharge. It last till morning and then ocuured a few times during third month of pregnancy. My gynecologist didn't saw anything wrong. And also all tests during pregnancy was normal. Although, after birth my child was diagnosed with mosaic down syndrome. Is it possible, that usage of menstrual cup or rather removing it, damaged the fetus and caused those cell abnormalities?

Thank you for your answer.

vaginal cup cannot harm fetus but preferably no need to use in pregnancy.

assalam o alaikum
there is no association of menstrual cup with down syndrome.
anyways don't use menstrual cup during pregnancy as this will make your vagina more susceptible to infections.
if you have vaginal discharge during pregnancy, better to use pads.
and if you have bleeding in pregnancy then this should not be considered as normal and should visit your obstetrician

- wellcome and thanks for preffering Marham for your health Consultation.
- DearDown syndrome is genetically inherited it's not to deal with vaginal cap .
- vaginal Cap can give u local infection but could not be cause of downs syndrome .
- Have strict hygeine .
- soft comfortable undergarments.
- local hygeine is mandatory .
- better to have balanced diet, weight and Bmi .
- Complete treatment for any health issue u have .
- local irritation ,infection could occur but it's not dealing with genetic disorder or cause of disorder .
-so better to have examination by Gynae specialist.
- Best of luck.

Thank you for your answers. I am wondering this only because if it has any connection with Down syndrome because it is mosaic down syndrome which means it is not genetically but was caused later in pregnancy.
