Asking for Brother, Male, 27 years old, Lahore
Hi, I want advice from psychiatrist. My brother has stopped going out of the house since 7 to 8 years . He doesnt likes the curtains to be even slightly ajar; He just peeks out the window from curtains for a minute or two. He's afraid to sleep alone in the room. Sometimes he shivers in sleeps and screams in fear. He just sleeps and eats all day. And sometimes have anger episodes about past. He has no friends. One time, in a reply to my mother, he said 'mein apni marzi say zinda thori na hoon'. He has never hurt himself. He has not completed his studies aswell. All this started happening when my father announced that we are broke and he has no means to financially support us. He was still in O levels at that time. This is not the main reason though. There are other reasons too but this post will become too long. Our monthly income is below average. We cannot afford doctor's fee. Is there any way he can get help?I tried to talk to him about his depression but he wont listen.

Assalam alaikum..what you are talking about its not the symptoms of
depression...it's more likely psychosis or schizophrenia....it's can manage
with long term medication along with some psychotherapy but you have to
evaluate him ...because we always need to talk to patient....one never
diagnosed like that... Do tell me your location will find out someone with
whom you consult ...

like self talking and laughing?
did u observed any odd behaviour?
fearful and suspicious?
besides depression?
wat about his sleep and apettite?
and his self care?

First of all the brother needs to be seen by a Psychiatrist. I can
understand that he would not visit a Psychiatrist. Would he take medication
if prescribed or probably he would require admission initially, but all
that can be ascertained after assessing him. I can render my services to
see him on video call or Skype, free of cost if patient is not affording.

We can crush the prescribed tablet in powder form and give him in his food. Then after he has talked to a psychiatrist, maybe he'll take it on his own.
Is there any medicine that'll lighten his mood a bit so he agrees on talking to a psychiatrist on video call?

Im not a doctor but a suferer myself. I was the same like your brother. Afraid, anti social, left studies, no job, anger episodes (hurting people physically or myself) i like to believe that i have come out of it after a struggle of almost 20 years. 10 years of intense disease, and followed by 10 years of struggling to get well. Many doctors helped along the way. Dr. kamran bukhari, dr. Nasir saeed khan, dr. Adnan, dr. Usman hotiana are the names i remember. Im telling you i was in pretty bad shape. There is hope, there always is! My meds have also been tapered off. I fought after they fought with me with my demons.

A.o.A We are very helpless as my younger brother is suffering from serious sort of illness. He limit himself to his room he has no friends. He think people spit on him. Every body trie to hurt him. As per him there is some sort of Group of jews who is controlling him. Who wants to hurt him.. he think my fathet is against him. He become suspicious that some thing is hidding from him. He tried many time to destry the house and things. He thought people laugh at him. So return he tried to hurt them badly. There is alot more to say but this message gets long. Please if some one could suggest the way i can turn my brother to normal life. He is also taking haevy drugs nd pulling his life to death
