Feeling lightheaded, dizzy, or sometimes a little faint is quite a common problem among older adults. It is a range of sensations such as feeling weak or woozy. Although it isn’t usually caused by anything life-threatening, constant dizziness can significantly affect your life. Its treatment depends on its underlying causes. So, for that, you must know these 4 reasons that might cause you dizziness.

1. You’re Dehydrated:

You may feel lightheaded or even fainting when you go out in extremely hot weather. Such weather conditions make you lose excess fluids in the form of sweating and cause dehydration. Without enough fluids, the volume of your blood goes down, lowering your blood pressure and keeping your brain from getting enough blood. And in the consequences it makes you feel dizzy or fainting.

2.You May Have A Problem With A Heart Valve:

I know you have never thought about such a serious reason for your dizziness. But it is possible and more likely to occur in younger people. Valve problems are usually congenital (inborn) issues that restrict blood flow and cause dizziness, especially during exercise.

3. You Skipped Meal And Now You’re Hungry:

We have always been told to eat a proper meal before exercising regular tasks. However, most of the people don’t care about it, especially, college or university students. This habit of skipping a meal cause low blood sugar which further leads to dizziness. It occurs when your brain doesn’t get the fuel which is a glucose that it needs. It is not an issue of heart rate or blood pressure but more of a metabolic concern.

4. You Could Be Having A Stroke:

If you feel dizzy accompanied by several other conditions such as muscle weakness, numbness or tingling, and difficulty in speaking, then it could be a sign of a stroke. If you experience this situation, immediately seek medical help. The dizziness in such condition might be caused by the decrease of blood flow in the brain.

Whenever you experience dizziness, don’t ignore it. Even if it does not have a serious cause, it could lead to serious injuries from a fall or collapse. So, you need to be careful! Moreover, you always have an option to consult with the specialist to get more information.
